Cocoa By~Products
During and after processing cocoa beans there are three types of remaining by-products: cocoa pod husk, cocoa bean shells and cocoa mucilage. These by-products are then used in various ways - food additives, food supplements, mulch, ash to make soaps, ethanol and biogas production from cocoa shells, adsorbents to entrap pollutants, industrial dyes and activated cocoa shell carbon.
